Many have voiced disconcerting comments of our 45th President’s practice of using Twitter and other forms of Social Media to inform the American public of issues and concerns. Even before winning the November Presidential Election in 2016, the media fired shots at (then) Presidential Candidate Trump for utilizing Social Media to inform voters.
With the onslaught of what is now known as “FakeNews“, President Trump has taken measures to ensure the Media does not misconstrue his intentions, ideals or methods. One of the first actions taken by President Trump was to move the Press Briefings from the main building of the White House to an adjacent building. This, rest assured, sent a strong message to the Press Corps that was not received favorably.
The original intent regarding “Freedom of the Press” by the Framers of the Constitution is noted (below).
As the appeal to the inhabitants of Quebec, written by the First Continental Congress in 1774, shows: The last right we shall mention regards the freedom of the press. The importance of this consists, besides the advancement of truth, science, morality, and arts in general, in its diffusion of liberal sentiments on the administration of Government, its ready communication of thoughts between subjects, and its consequential promotion of union among them, whereby oppressive officers are shamed or intimidated into more honorable and just modes of conducting affairs.
In addition to moving the Whitehouse Press briefings, President Trump has not been silent or shy about “calling-out” news outlets of which he considers to utilize deceptive or misleading tactics. He has gone as far as to refer to CNN as a “Fake News” outlet.
The invention and free utilization of Social media (Facebook & Facebook Live, Twitter, Youtube and others) has provided abundant ways for the world to communicate at a moment’s notice. It is no wonder that President Trump has made the decision to use this to properly inform the American public of his work. The News Media has taken advantage of the method as well, by using Twitter & Facebook Live to promote and air coverage of important issues.
There are many tools our present day’s technology that are available for all to use, including the President of the United States. In order to provide fair and balanced reporting of his activities, our President has made use of these technologies to ensure the American public is well informed and informed, properly.
